Let It Move: It's Always Something

Your situation can completely change, and you can continue to feel all of the insecurities, uncertainties, and pains you felt in your old situation. In fact, you probably will if all that has changed is your situation.

Even though your situation has changed, the inner work remains.

This is why lottery winners go broke, and people find themselves in a third and fourth marriage. The problem may have been bad. It may have been horrible! But it wasn't the main issue.

Most of the time, what's really needed isn't a change in situation—it's a change of mindset. And in every case, the mind that needs changing is my own. The situation can change one hundred times, but if my mindset is the same, nothing is really fixed.

And Life will find a way to bring up the issue again, and again, and again until I finally face this fact. This is actually a gift—a kindness of Life—because as much as I would like to be comfortable, Life's purpose is to make me whole.

I could have $1 in the bank and be consumed by the dread of running out. Then something could change, and I could have $1,000,000 in the bank. After the thrill wears off, if all that changed was the number that shows up when I log into my bank account, I will still dread running out. The numbers can change, and change, and change until eventually I might realize that the dread never really changes at all. Once I realize this, I'm awake to the reality that the issue was never the number; it was my mindset.

This awakening changes everything. It means that I can solve the most important problems in my life without needing anything or anyone else to do a single thing differently. My work is mine alone, and at the end of the day, I only have myself to blame for where I end up.

If I reach the end of my life having worried every day about money, health, relationships, status, or whatever... it will have nothing to do with those things. It will have one hundred percent to do with the work I did or did not do on myself.

This is a freeing reality. It means that we're not a slave to anyone or any thing. There are no chains and there are no walls. We can change our minds any time we choose.

Obviously, it's not easy. But the good news is that it is available. And we have a loving and powerful ally on the path—Life is always ready and willing to support us in our growth.

So where is the opportunity right now?

Feel what you feel. Allow it to move. Maybe it's dread, and maybe you feel it in your chest or in your neck. Whatever it is, name it. See it. Wherever it is, feel it. And free it to move. Stop holding it in place. It isn't "bad." But it is there. You don't have to pretend it isn't. And you don't have to make it leave. But you can stop trying to hold it down. Let it move.

This is how we become free. Not by forcing ourselves free, but by releasing our grip and trusting the healing process that is at work to make us free.

In two minutes, what we couldn't make happen in two decades can be done.

If you slow down enough, you can feel that there is a Current, and you are in it. You can trust it. Let it move.
